Thanks to funding from the U.S. Department of Labor with local partnership from the NYS Department of Labor and the NYC Department of Small Business Services, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is hiring for the cleanup of NYCHA developments and community outreach to connect residents to critical resources in hurricane impacted areas.

Individuals affected by Hurricane Sandy are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors for long periods of time.

TO QUALIFY, CANDIDATES MUST BE UNEMPLOYED AND MEET ONE OF THE BELOW CRITERIA:

  • Have lost employment as a result of Hurricane Sandy (temporarily or permanently);
  • Have been unemployed for 27 consecutive weeks or more;
  • Have been laid off or terminated by their last employer, or have received a notice of termination by their last employer

For additional information on who qualifies as a Dislocated Worker, please see the Workforce Investment Act.

NYCHA residents are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must be able to pass drug screening and employment verification.
